Ethernet cables

! have a pair of Powerline AV500 gigabit (XAV5001 which my son gave me but I do not have the original ethernet cables. Can I use any other cables????

    Thank you Andy. Being a silver surfer I am never quite sure so I need to ask someone a little more Savvy

    I sort of suspected alternatives would work but manuals state " use only the cables provided" crafty eh!!!!!

    Yes, you should have no issues using other cables, I buy mine online rather than from computer stores where can be extortionately expensive.

     

    Buy either Cat5e or Cat6.

        The reason for that statement is that there are different grades of cable available, and if an end user has a Cat5 or earlier cable then throughput will be restricted to 100Mbps or less, you need Cat5e or better, currently Cat6 is easy to find and not particularly expensive. You can also use flat cables, I use flat Cat6 throughout my house which is easily hidden under carpets (not where people walk) and/or skirting board.
