Some newer mobile OS can behave "difficult" if they can associate to a network but don't get a network config in time.
The red LEDs indicate a very bad powerline connection over the circuit. Try to re-locate the adapters, away from any extension cords and distributors, ideally direct on a wall outlet.

I know tha the red light isn't good.
The house is 40-50 years old, and it's in the garage apartment, so I feel fortunate to even see a signal. I know that back when it used to work without problems, I never had anything better than a red signal.
What's strange is I was going to unhook it this morning and test it in the same room as the router. But the network worked this morning. Not sure what that means ... why it's been failing all these weeks at night.
