is Powerline 500 compatible with powerline 1200?

I am using powerline 1200 package in my home. But now i need something can provide both ethernet and wifi. Can i buy powerline 500+wifi, plug in other room? Is it compatible with the power...
You can mix them yes but your adapters will only be as fast as the slowest device in the network.
A way around this would be to pair the 1200s together with one network name and the 500s together under a different network name.
