AC1900 is not a Netgear model number. It is a label that Netgear, and others, attach to their hardware to describe their wifi speeds.
You "believe" it is an XAV6501. If so, it will say so on the plug.
If it is an XAV6501 then there will be another Powerline plug connected to the router.
The XAV6501 is not an extender. Nor does it do wifi. So my guess is that you have something else.
Netgear has a range of routers with Powerline built in. The R7300DST router includes the DST6501 as its adapter. Is that the thing you own?
