powerline 1200 to n300

I'm sure this has been asked but i can't find this specific  combo. My situation is like this;

My main house has the router and I am trying to put wifi in an outside building that has metal walls (pole barn). I can't get any reception in here. My plan is to put a powerline 1200 to get the wifi out to the polebarn. I have completed this step and tested it by hooking up a laptop which connected to internet successfully. I want to plug a n300 wifi extender directly to the powerline 1200 to grab it's signal and send it all over the polebarn.

This is where my problem is. I cannot get any connection from the powerline 1200 to the n300 extender. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas on how to get this completed.

Thank you!!

  • You didn't specify the model number of your N300 extender, so specific instructions can't be provided here. Basically, you will want to set up your extender as an Access Point, which will utilize the Powerline connection to link to the router. You can find the instructions in the manual. If you don't have it, it can be downloaded from http://support.netgear.com.
