Using Powerline 1200 with 6-Outlet Tap, Grounded

Hello, will using a GE grounded 6-Outlet Tap for plugging one of my Powerline 1200 adapters into degrade the performance or should I be okay? The only other thing I plan to plug in to the 6-outlet tap is a surge protector. Thanks!

    What's that?

If it is some sport of mains adaptor that lets you plug several devices into one mains socket, then it depends on what the plug does.

Netgear advises against using "extension blocks" and similar devices, but i have used them happily with no apparent effect.

Where you could experience problems is in the case of sockets that try to do smart things, like noise suppression. Powerline works by sending Ethernet signals over the mains network. Anything that tries to "clean up" the mains could end up interfering with the Powerline operation.

I wouldn't know if the surge protector falls into the category of troublesome devices, you'll just have to suck it and see.

Thanks for the feedback. The outlet tap simply adds more outlet plugs to a standard 2 plug outlet. It doesn’t do anything special otherwise.

It should work fine. It does here.
