WGX102 setup problems: does not broadcast correct SSID

Sorry - I've just realised I was completely wrong on this. I thought I was accessing the WGX102 from the IP address default. Turns out it was the NetGear WiFi Range Extender (a WN200RPT, not an N300 as this is a range classification apparently).
Just shows - a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!
So, it seems I can't access the WGX102 at all, in spite of all 3 green lights showing. I've done a Reset on it, but an IP scan still doesn't pick it up.
Do I have to connect the XE102 to a switch first and then run this over the powerline along with the Develo dLAN kit?

I've spent the past several hours now trying different things with no success.
- I did manage to access the WGX102 by dint of connecting another PC wirelessly to the reset NETGEAR default SSID and then tried setting up the network with the Home Network_X2 SSID (using my Home Network WSA key). However, when I applied the settings, things would not work: I could eventually connect to the Nome Network_X2 device, but could not access it nor find the IP address on a scan. For some reason, my PC was also assigned an odd IP address: 10.30.2.45, even though I use 192.168.0 series.
- I then tried installing an XE102 on the same network (through a switch near my PCs) and running the XE102-WGX102 pair. The XE102 showed a flickering LAN light, but could not be seen by either the Netgear utility or an IP scan. The WGX102 operated exactly as described above, when the XE102 was not connected.
- I then disconnected my Devolo dLAN 200 from the router and tried again with the XE102 directly connected to the router and go exactly the same problems as above.
I'm now flummoxed.
1) Can the XE102-WGX102 operate on a powerline when another brand of powerline adapter is connected?
2) Can the WGX102 operate as a WAP off a different brand of powerline network (the Develo in this case) - it seemed to recognise something was happening when it was plugged in without the XE102?
3) Any idea why the system would not work even when the Develo system was unplugged from the router?
All help / suggestions appreciated!

Further information on the problem, following further unsuccessful experimentation:
- I disconnected both Devolo dLAN adapters, so ensuring no competing signals.
- I connected the XE102 to the router - three green lights.
- I connected a WGX102 (I have two and tried both with the same results) to another plug point - three green lights.
- when I connected to the NETGEAR default WiFi network, I could not access the internet, but only 192.168.0.101 (the router setup). I set the region, and allowed the settings to update. No change (e.g. no access to the Internet through the router).
- I could not see the XE102 through either the XE102 utility or the WGX102 one, and an IP scanner would not detect it, either.
If anyone has any ideas, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Move the WGX102 to the room where the router and the XE102 are connected. Check if it can you access internet when both devices are in just one room. If does connects to the internet, which means it might be the distance of the two devices from each other.
