what happened to this piece of **bleep**
This used to be an excellent router. Now I can't even connect to my friends online. My powerline adapters (actiontec) will never connect. And there's no good updates? Wtf is going on here ?
When you add new powerline devices to an existing powerline network, you have to introduce the new plugs to the old ones. You don't say if you have done this. I have seen a steady stream of reports here of problems caused by not doing that.
Here is Netgear's advice on how to go about it:
Adding a powerline adapter to an existing powerline network
I found it easier to set up the new plugs nearby the existing router (host) plug, and then moving them to where I wanted them. They will remember which plugs they are supposed to talk to.

If your powerline device are not connecting, you should troubleshoot that problem first, then the router.
- 5cAspirantI have actiontec pwr 514's and I just got them replaced. They are working. I'm not just really happy about the latency I'm getting on Xbox or the firmware updates. This router seems abandoned.
- 5cAspirantThank you. I tried this with a monster surge protector I had. The surge protector had an Ethernet port so I plugged my router to that side and used the adaptor connected to my Xbox. I was a little frustrated when I wrote this as you might have noticed
- 5cAspirantNo clithes the speeds I'm getting are not good at all with these Powerline adapters and I haven't noticed anything better with these updates. Nothing that truly helps performance. I called up action and they sent me replacement units and my problem went away. I just expected better updates. I feel like they don't want this item to run better because they want us to purchase the x10.
