When I plug in Powerline to router, I lose the router internet connection

I am so frustrated. I bought the powerline 1000. I plug in the adapters, run an ethernet cord from the first adapter to my Cisco Lynsys router. Within about 30-60 seconds I lose the internet connection on my router! My computer is still connected to the router but "no internet access".

I click on the availabile wifi networks and I can see the netgear wifi device. I try to enter the password listed on the back of my device and that doesn't work either.

What am I doing wrong? Why does the router keep dropping it's internet connection every time I plug in the powerline with the ethernet cord to the router?

  • Sounds like it could be a conflict somewhere with your router and your modem/gateway.  What modem do you have connecting to the internet?

Do you know the model number, and also of your router?
