XAV5501 problem after PC standby
Hi,
I've just bought a XAVB5501 pack, with 2x XAV5501. I plugged one near my cablebox, and the other one in my bedroom to a Desktop PC (let give the name PC1, that runs Seven 64x). It works fine, connection is good (Rx and Tx > 100Mbps).
But I have a very bad problem. Every time my PC1 goes to standby, when it wakes up the connection is lost. The XAV5501 always stays in standby mode. So I need to desactivate my network card on PC1 (it is an Intel 82579V Gigabits), wait a little, then reactivate the network card. This way the XAV5501 "see or receive" wakeup event, and the connection is established.
So I know that problem is about standby/wakeup. What I've already done:
-update both XAV5501 firmwares to lastest (v0.2.0.9CE)
-update network card to lastest driver from Intel
-turn off every thing relative to economic mode in my network card (there's a lot of option in network card driver panel page under Seven)
-turn on Wake On Lan/Magic/Link on my network card, but I don't think it could solve anything, because my problem is to wakeup the XAV5501, not my PC
I'm here, and don't know what to do now.
Please can someone give me a solution?
Thank you very much in advance, and I apologize for my bad english.

- jmizoguchiVirtuosoyou need change power management on on network adapter.. standby, sleep, hibernation mode always causes erratic issues
- parksjwNoviceI have the same problem with my Ipad. It losses the connection to the xav500 when it is not in use and when I reopen my Ipad, I have to disconnect from the network and reconnect before I can access the internet.
Is this a funtion of the power saving feature? If so, it should be disabled. - jmizoguchiVirtuosoyou can disable on iPad... try use static IP on iPad

thanks jmizoguchi, I knew that, but I tried every option on my network card, and still a problem. What I have on adapter option:
- ethernet energy efficient (translated from french, it talks about setting a economic ethernet mode) -> turn off
- reduce the link speed in standby mode -> turn off
- reduce the link speed when the system is idle -> turn off
- wake on LAN -> turn on
any others ideas? Do you think my XAV could have a problem? (it's a brand new one, I can contact my reseller to change it I guess).
@parksjw: you connect your iPad to the XAV???? With a rj45 wire?? that looks weird for me:confused: - jmizoguchiVirtuosoI think if my momeory is correct, it is possible that xav is in standby too.
- TheBeONoviceYes, I'm sorry maybe I didn't explain in detail. My problem is that the XAV goes to standby, when my PC goes to standby (or when my PC turn off). And the XAV didn't wake up after my PC wakeup ...
- jmizoguchiVirtuosoif you unplug the pc and set the xav rung by itself, does goes to standby ?
- TheBeONoviceYes it goes to standby, and that's a normal behavior.
I do not know which setting I changed for my latest try, but I think it works. The last two times I put my PC on standby, and wake up few hours after, the XAV was properly awake. I'll wait a bit to see if it works well all the time, I'll keep you informed.
Anyway thank you for your support. - TheBeONoviceHi, ok problem still there. I'll contact my retailler.
- biselinAspirantLikewise, I have new XAV5501 adaptors, and am losing connectivity at the rate of about 2 days from 3 spent in downtime because of them. They XAV wakes up when the PC wakes up, but then it cannot find the connection (unidentified network). it fails to again pick up the IP configuration. Take today as an example, from the very first time I booted the PC, the LAN card was fine and awake, the XAV also awake and attempting to connect. But it fails to find the right IP configuration. Ai am running Win 7. TCP/IP6 and TCP/IP4 are both set to automatic. While this is happening, the Netgear Utility only sees the adaptor at the PC, not at the router end. So I have rebooted PC, adaptors, router etc a hundred times and, still, no connection,.
This is driving me to distraction. I cannot find anything in the XAV5501 installation guide or user manual that says anything other than 'after 5 minutes' it should refresh. Well, it mostly doesn't. Once every couple of days it magically does find the right configuration and runs like a dream. Until next time the PC is switched off or goes into standby.
Help!?
