Update to my post:
I should have said if I turn off the Windows WLAN AutoConfig can I still use either the standalone driver or the Genie to access wireless networks on my Windows 8.1 machine? Sorry for the confusion.

Hi RoscoePC,
If you disable the WLAN Autocnofig, your may need to use the Genie version so that the Genie will manage your network settings.
