For the adapter I have downloaded from the support website. The last update I obtained for the router, I use the GUI interface to perform the upgrade.
I have never used the Genie interface, preferring to control my router from the device IP. Doing so, I believe I have avoided most of the complaints brought forward in these threads.
Yesterday, I installed the new .11 standalone driver on my Win 7 64 bit laptop. I could not get speeds to report in the Windows Network and Sharing utility to above 270 mbs and the signal strength stayed at 4 bars under 15' from the router with no obstructions. While it seemed fast, I without actual testing rolled back to the .4 standalone and the speeds jumped to 866.5 with full bars. Who knows?
