A7000 "Link speed (Receive/Transmit): 54/1300 (Mbps)" on Windows 10

I was expecting a symmetric 1300/1300 Mbps link speeds with the A7000 since I also have an integrated WiFi Adapter Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260 which can connect at 300/300 Mbps, however I always connect to the router at 54 Mbps for receiving speed, no matter what settings I use in the driver's advanced properties or the USB port to which I plug the adapter. I also have disabled the Intel wireless adapter. In terms of file transfers from a NAS to the local PC, transferring a 6GB file, the Intel adapter reaches around 25 MB/s and the NETGEAR A7000 around 37 MB/s which is higher than the 54 Mbps indicated in the Windows Settings WiFi Properties, but still slow, since I was expecting transfer speeds of around 85 MB/s.

To add to this weird situation, when I use the PowerShell cmdlet "netsh wlan show interface" it shows:

Receive rate (Mbps) : 1300
Transmit rate (Mbps) : 1300
Signal : 100%

So either the info on the WiFi properties is wrong or the details fetched by the cmdlet are, but the fact is, the file trasfer speeds are not reaching the expected. Any ideas?

System Configuration

Router Huawei HG8245Q2

Windows 10 v2004

A7000 driver package: v1.0.0.15

Actual driver version: 1030.25.701.2017 (A7000.sys)

USB 3.0 port

5 GHz Network

Distance no more than 3 meters from the router

Storage SSD NVMe

When i run CMD --> netsh wlan show interface, I get:

      Receive rate (Mbps): 54

      Transmit rate (Mbps): 1300

Shouldnt my Receive rate be much higher?

  • Hi all & Netgear Tech Support,

I recently has the same issue like 54/1300Mbs such people mentioned here .. since I upgrade to new computer

I also found that I have Intel Wireless AX on board as well in my mobo Gigabytes Vision D 550. But I disabled the mobo wireless adapter since its only support up to 866Mbs in 5G AC mode and my router is only AC router that support at 1766Mbs.

I only can suspect the Netgear's driver (outdate) since windows 10 v2004 release ? or firmware need to be upgraded ? or incompatible with 2nd wireless adapter such as Intel onboard. ?(but its weird then).

Is there any recomendation for fixing the problem ?
