A9000 unable to connect to 6GHz network

Hey everyone,

Long time reader first time poster.

I recently moved in to a new house 1200Sqft. I would prefer to be wired in but there's only one cable outlet in the home in the living room.

I've been running an 85ft CAT8 cable for the past week and decided to purchase the Nighthawk A9000 USB WIFI 7 Adapter. Got it yesterday and can not get it to work. That's a lie, it will work on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz band, it will however not connect on the 6GHz band.

My router is a TPLink BE550 and I've never had any issues with it, owned for about a year and a little more. Tried updating the firmware, reseting the router itself. Only thing I haven't done is factory restore the router yet. Everything is configured on the routers end just fine. I have all the bands on their own SSID instead of just a single SSID. PSC is enabled. I've also tried re-naming the 6GHz band, changing the password etc.

On the A9000 side, I've set prefered band to 6GHz.

The error I get is CAN NOT CONNECT TO NETWORK.

But again, 2.4GHz and 5GHz it works just fine on.

Any ideas?

Do you have other 6 Ghz devices that do connect?

What PC are you using (and what OS version)?

How far away is the PC from the BE550?

What other peripherals (if any) are also connected to the PC?

      OS = Windows 11 25H2

PC = Custom built Intel 13900K Asus Maximus Z790 Hero

Distance = 12ft through a wall, also tried right next to the PC.

Other Peripherals = Keyboard, Mouse, MIC through an external USB Hub from Vantec ( 10 port Powered )

I've tried the A9000 in multiple USB ports including the hub,

Unshielded USB and HDMI cables (and some peripherals) can generate wifi interference.  If you can power down the Vantec as a test (still connecting the mouse and keyboard to the PC), then maybe worth a try.

Does the Hero PC have WiFi 6e installed?  If it does, then can it connect to the BE550 6 ghz network?

Are you manually entering the network name, or is the adapter detecting the network?

That seems to indicate that the A9000 does display the 6G SSID as an available WiFi network.

(We read that 6G WiFi signals are reduced when penetrating walls more than 5G signals, but if that were the problem then the A9000 would not detect the 6G signal at all.)

Is there another device that the A9000 can be connected to? (laptop? tablet?)

Netgear mentions PSC in this article.

    https://kb.netgear.com/000064415/Why-can-t-my-device-detect-the-6-GHz-wireless-band

PSC would seem to be irrelevant since the adapter attempts to connect to the detected SSID.

Yes, detection of the 6GHz band is fine, shows up in Windows. Just when I try and connect it will not do it. 2.4Ghz and 5GHz bands connect fine.

Unfortunately I do not have another device to connect on the 6GHz band although I my get Samsung S26+ after work.

I do have a mini-PC I can try the A9000 in. I will report back. I also might try the older driver as well.
