Big Problem with NetGear WNA3100

Net ger WNA3100m wireless adaptor Windows 10 not found.

A friend of mine installed Windows 10 on a new drive in his windows 7 system everything worked Ok except for the Net gear WNA3100m wireless adapter not found.

It works OK from the windows 7 build, tried down loading various drivers for windows 10. version 2.2.0.4 should be compatible but still failed to find the adaptor.

I removed the PC to my home and connected via Ethernet cable to my router did an update driver software from device manager let it search the web.

New driver found and installed now works on window 7 and windows 10 drives (retired HP support engineer)

Hope this helps good luck.

  • I recently installed Windows 10 and have the problem with the Netgear WNA3100 dropping the connection. I went to the Netgear site and downloaded the software for Windows 10 but am still having the problem. I followed the directions for uninstalling the Netgear software and then reinstalling as directed. If there is something else that I am missing I would appreciate any help to this problem. I am at the point of replacing the WNA3100 if I can't solve this problem.

      Hi jmerritt,

Try to install the driver of the adapter manually.

      1. Install the USB driver version 2.2.0.4 (Supports Win10).

      2. Once installed manually update driver software. Open Device Manager , select the WNA3100, right click , select Update Driver Software.

      3. Choose Browse my computer for driver software

      4. Choose Let me Pick from a list of device drivers on my computer

      5. Select the one with NETGEAR INc.

JamesGL thank you for the reply. I solved the problem. When I was running Windows 7 I received a message about being able to speed up the Netgear adapter by plugging it into a USB 3.0 port. I moved the adapter to a USB 2.0 port and everything is working fine. I guess I am giving up some speed but for the reliability I am OK with this. When I reviewed the specs for the adapter it didn't say anything about 3.0 but it worked well in Windows 7. I wonder why Windows 10 doesn't likethe 3.0 port.

  • I upgraded to the new version and it says disabled for my wi- fi in the network connection settings.
In the device manager it says everything is working fine.. I try to enable the wi-fi for my netgear adapter and it doesn't change from disabled 😳

      Hi Nettv41,

Try to uninstall and reinstall the NETGEAR adapter. Try to use the standalone driver instead that one with genie.
