I'd return it. The datasheet shows only compatible to version 10.15.7 of mac. Quite a bit behind.

Better to find something that has a generic driver you can use and is a bit higher performing (the A6150 is pretty slow too)

Netgear has a hard time keeping up with Apple's OS updates. They probably don't like anyone polluting their systems with third party devices. I'm with plemans return the adapter.

The A6150 is five years old and is a generation or two behind the latest wifi standards.

  • Same issue here. I am on Sonoma. This adapter was the only USB WIFI adapter that listed compatibility with Mac OS in the entire store (BestBuy). Everything else required Windows. Any recommendations? I am all ear. TIA

Netgear lists a couple adapters as  Mac OS compatible but it has a hard time keeping up with Apple's changes. Windows seems to be easier to manage, although even there older adapters can have problems with newer versions.

I'd ask that question on a Mac group.

An alternative, where circumstances allow, might be to install an internal WiFi card. That is a better bet for Windows although yet again the choice may be limited for Mac OS. Netgear doesn't make these cards.

The dearth of options available in BestBuy may be a sign.

Disclaimer: I'm not a MAC guy. I have zero and probably won't because of past experiences.

With that said, a lot of the forums with posts about USB adapters for macs show they've not been allowing them to be installed at the OS level. What most are recommending on the forums is getting an extender with an ethernet output, picking up a lightning/usb-c to ethernet adapter, and just hardwiring in the mac to the extender. Problem is that it isn't portable.

Another option is to search their (mac's) forums for potential devices that *might* work.
