I am experiencing the same issue on a Windows 7 x64 machine. This includes when using the latest firmware and software drivers for the adapter and my Netgear router. I reboot the computer and connections are visible but cannot be connected to until I unplug and replug in the adapter, which is highly inconvenient as the port is on the back of my tower under a desk. Disabling minimum power consumption does not help at all. I bought this adapter brand new for a high price when it was released for my Windows 8 desktop and it continuously lost connection (I tried all solutions at that time as well to no avail). So it sat dormant for more than a year as I used a PCI adapter and an 8-year-old adapter for my other machine, both worked without a problem. Most recently a firmware update pushed out by Netgear for my router also caused a 50% drop in bandwidth transmission until I downgraded. My prior Netgear router wound up in an infinite boot cycle and could not be cured. So I have had three very poor experiences with my last three Netgear purchases and will never even consider them for any future networking needs. Now I will have to downgrade back to a very old adapter for my Windows 7 machine as I cannot stand this inconvenience of unplugging and plugging back in each boot.
