Universal Wifi Adaptor to bypass 802.1x
I'm not a tech guru, but simply a guy who learns stuff from the internet. So please forgive me if I say something that is utterly stupid. My little college in Missouri has 802.1x secured net that requires username and password for access. Now thats nothing new. But the worst thing is they don't let you register a single device! Most of my friends who go to other unis can register their mac. I've been left with a smart tv that is totally dumb. My Missouri uni (i swear Missouri would charge you for air if they could) doesn't let you have a personal router either. The only solution I know is creating a hotspot via laptop. But I'm pretty positive that it's against the uni policy. Since I'm too broke to afford Suddenlink, I need help from you guys. Sorry if it sounds stupid, but will my smart tv work by connecting a Netgear wifi adpater to the back of it? Does the wifi adapter even connect to 802.1x network? If you don't want to help because you believe going against the campus's rules and regulations is wrong, then i understand where you're coming from. But please don't bash me with negative comments. Thank you.

Hi taitai3,
The adapter that you have will not be able to work with the 802.1x type of connection or those connection that needs username and password to connect. None of any NETGEAR home adapter will work with that type of connection.
