Windows 8.1 Beta Driver
I have downloaded and installed the beta drivers for Windows 8.1 following the instructions provided by Netgear. However, I continue to have problems with it. It randomly disappears from my pc as if I've unplugged it from the USB port. Nothing else I have plugged into a USB port does this, so I don't believe it's a problem with my USB ports or drivers.
Has anyone had this problem or does anyone know a solution?
Thanks!

- Ap0kalipseAspirantSame here, Win 8.1 random disconnects.
One person commented saying they had used .26 on Win 8.1 - is that correct?
Currently got a case open with netgear, going round in circles.... - Wolf315AspirantI had all kinds of issues with 1.0.0.30, it kept disconnecting and I would have to physically pull the adapter and reconnect for the internet to come back up. I switched to the new .26-1 that Netgear posted and its been much more stable.
- Ponathan1AspirantPlease try the following to get your adapter working. It has worked for me and its been two weeks with no issues.
1)Download the Latest netgear genie software to C:\Temp and extract all to that folder.
2)Uninstall your netgear genie software and any files and folders associated with it.
(DO NOT LEAVE YOUR ADAPTER PLUGGED IN AFTER UNINSTALL)
3)Remove the following registry entries. (Ctrl+R then type regedit into the field)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\BCM42RLY
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BCM42RLY
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\BCMH43XX
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BCMH43XX
4)Run the file setup-V1.0.0.26-win81_signed.exe located in C:\Temp as administrator and follow the installer exactly.
5) Connect to your network and presto it should work without anymore drops.
Feel free to PM me for any questions. I am currently working on installation instructions for distribution. - stevengallagherAspirant

This truly saved my day (if not week)! I'm on Win7x64 and with the 10.0.30 driver, I was finally able to discover our 5 GHz net Thanks very much man! Specially since the official Netgear download page doesn't provide the new driver anymore. - Ponathan1AspirantI forgot to mention to restart your computer after you delete the registry entries.
- Wolf315AspirantI ended up getting rid of the genie and just going with the stand alone driver and its been working great on my 8.1 system. (fingers crossed) It doesn't want to auto connect on restart but I can live with that
- TheMagicianAspirantTo all the people in this thread who use Windows 8.1 and have problems with random disconnects during normal internet access or when transferring large files to a connected NAS:
1) do not use the extender cable that comes with the adapter but plug the dongle directly into a USB 2 port (credit goes to user: Splicedz)
2) try to disconnect all other USB devices from the port that you use (Computers often have a group of USB ports in the front which are connected via one cable to the motherboard. The same is true for the back panel of the computer. Unplug all other devices from the port that you use so that only the A6200 remains).
These two tricks solved all connectivity problems for me (in Windows 8.1 + Update 1). However, this is a joke. You need an extender cable because the dongle is so huge and it's also not an option to not use any other USB devices apart from the dongle.
So Netgear, get this fixed and release a driver which makes the dongle less sensitive to this stuff!! - Hmmm ok, I have installed V1.0.0.30 on a Windows 8.1, and its been better that V1.0.0.26-1 for A6200
I have a couple of disconnects, it doesn't like sharing USB hub connection, when its alone on the hub, its fine..and at speed - DirtyShadyAspirantI have try the new 1.0.0.35 beta driver here : ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/A6200/A6200-beta-V1.0.0.35.zip And I have always problem with random disconnects... I am reassured to see that there not only me who have this problem.
- retiredtech2Aspirantnew win8.1 install, my old Dlink DWA140 crashes , and is no longer supported. by dstink on win8 but ok on 7.
so, i bought this new A6200.. and it drops dead every 5min.
off dime, I set all power setting of every thing to no sleep, etc.
i read every post on every forum, tried the hoop jumps... to no avail.
so i decide to post here. MY fix for Google searchers.
wow, beta drivers? great. i will try that.
i running dot 26.1. now.
A SOLUTION:
but here is the kicker, i found if i removed the driver totally, with genie.
then, load the stand alone, no genie.
it runs like a rock. (wife is kissing me now)
seems Genie and windows, are in API clash.?
no more drops outs, and the drop outs set device manager to yellow status for A6200. (usb port 3, Asus m5a975 R.2.0) one more clue.
The is wifes Desktop, on wifi.
my router is DIR655. .
thanks for the great forum and the updates.
keeping up with WIN8.1 must be hard, so keep up the great work.
I cant wait to try it on AC router....
