i found a solution that worked for me:
https://community.netgear.com/t5/WiFi-Adapters/A6200-Disconnecting-on-Windows-10/td-p/981072
Step 1:Go to "Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings".Step 2:Expand "Wireless Adaptor Settings > Power Saving Mode" and make sure it is set to "Maximum Performance".Step 3:Expand "USB Settings > USB Selective Suspend Settings" and change Setting to "Disabled".

I recently had this issue and stumbled upon this forumn but found no results. However, I seemed to fix my problem. (I don't know for sure because it's been 30 minutes only but I think I fixed it for good.) So, find wherever the icon for your netgear connection genie is. By default it will be on the desktop but I had it in a different folder. Right click on it, and select "properties". A new window should appear. In this window, under "Compatibility" make sure that the "Compatibility Mode" box is NOT checked. For some reason when I checked my properties, this was in compatibility mode for Windows 7, and I think that's where the root of the problem is, because I never put it there. Check to make sure yours isn't in that mode, and it should work like mine.
