i found a solution that worked for me:
https://community.netgear.com/t5/WiFi-Adapters/A6200-Disconnecting-on-Windows-10/td-p/981072
Step 1:Go to "Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings".Step 2:Expand "Wireless Adaptor Settings > Power Saving Mode" and make sure it is set to "Maximum Performance".Step 3:Expand "USB Settings > USB Selective Suspend Settings" and change Setting to "Disabled".

I was past time for store return. I still have this POS sitting on my desk as a reminder to never buy a Netgear product again. I have had problems with Netgear in the past and I'm done with them.

This reflects poorly on the company as a whole.

For what it's worth I tried everthing to fix this problem with this adapter and the A6100 without success until I completely reinstalled Windows 10. That was about 4 weeks ago and I haven't had a recurrence of the problem.
