Many thanks for your response. Have tried a Cat 6 cable with nochange. Not sure how to reserve an IP address.
It appears that the Netgear router regularly does not issue out IP addresses to devices. Is that fixable on the router or do I need to bin it ?
The manual gives an excellent narrative on how to reserve an IP.
