Accessing WG302 via http since the year changed?
I am getting a "Self Certificate" page since this morning accessing my WG302's.

Any insight?

- SKXNoviceNo firmware fix for this, so I'm told. Here is the workaround:
1. Connect your PC to the unit using a serial cable
2. Use your favourite telnet client to log on - Hyperterminal works of course
3. Issue the following commands:
set system dns primary 0.0.0.0
set system dns secondary 0.0.0.0
reboot
By killing DNS the unit can't get NTP. This allows you to log on again, but does not affect your wireless clients. - rickamAspirantWe have many of these units and have just discovered the issue (that we are locked out of them).
suggested fix: to fool the internal clock
If the clock starts at about 2006 in the firmware and the unit is not able to connect to the time server to update time, then we can continue to admin the device.
In 5 years time we will not be able to log-on to the device as the device clock rolls to 2011. Then we will have to reset the device and re-enter the settings every 5 years.
The WG302 is a capable device and there have been many thousands manufactured, it is a right shame about the loss of functionality due to the certificate expiration. End of support firmware should be issued to eliminate the certificate policy. Will this sort of thing happen to all of our netgear products? Should I bother with the V2? - JaixBlyAspirantHi all, I have successfully installed OpenWRT in both v1 and v2 of the WG302 accesspoints, so if you get tired of no real fix from Netgear, the OpenWRT community has the solution.
OpenWRT is a GPL, opensource, free replacement of the Netgear firmware that exeedes the Netgears own in all aspects (except perhaps a slightly more advanced user interface for good and bad).
Here is a howto:
Openwrt on Netgear WG302 v1 and v2
- GodchillaAspirantIf you don't have a Serial-Cable to administrate your WG302 device, then do the following steps:
1) Unplug the Ethernet-Cable from your WG302 device and disconnect all wireless clients.
2) Reset your WG302 device to factory default settings (hold the reset button for at least 10 seconds).
3) Connect the Ethernet-Cable to your WG302 device.
4) Login thru Webadmin-Interface (192.168.0.228) as: admin/password.
5) Go to "Basic Settings" an give your device a new IP-Number, i've changed my to 198.168.0.2/255.255.255.0, my FVL-328 Router has 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0 - these steps are not necessary.
5.2) And now the important thing! Make sure that DHCP Client is disabled and Default Gateway, Primary DNS Server, Secondary DNS Server is set to 0.0.0.0. Leave the date at 2006 - do not change it!
6) Go to "IP Settings" and enable "Use AP as DHCP Server".
6.2) Check "Accept Both DHCP Enabled and Static IP Configured Wireless Clients".
6.3) Set an IP-Range for the DHCP Server, for example 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.150, Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0. Gateway IP Adress 192.168.0.1. Primary DNS IP Address 192.168.0.1.
7) Configure Wireless Settings Setup, Wireless Settings Advanced, Security Profile Settings, Access Control Security, Password and Remote-Access as you like.
8) Go to Management/Backup/Restore Settings and "Back up a copy of the current settings to a file" (it is not necessary, but maybe you will need it in future days).
You're done! The WG302 device stays at a date of 2006 and you have any time access to the web-administration-interface. :) - akevinbaileyAspirantDid anyone solve this issue? If so, how?
- markbentoAspirantSo has anyone found a way to get into these, I just got two of them not knowing about this problem and they are telling me that its an invalid logon.
I have no computers with an rs232 port anymore so all I can do it use the http to get to it. any help would be great because this sucks and netgear should do right by them as it was them that caused this in the frist place.
anyone here hear the words class action law suit coming I do - jmizoguchiVirtuoso
- markbentoAspirantOk now that I was able to vent here is what I have tried other than spending more money for the rs232 is there anything I can try?
I have set my wired port on my laptop to a static ip 192.168.0.38 with this I can get to the logon screen of the 302v1. it lets me type in admin and password but then tells me invalid logon try again, so I have tried the 30-30-30 rest to put it back to the factory settings try again but still get the same msg.
the 302 is not on the network so no internet access for it.
using putty I can ssh to it but can not make any changes to it. the date that it sys it has when looking at it with putty is jul of 2006.
any ideas ?
thanks

Mark - jmizoguchiVirtuosoYou can't use straight serial DB9 cable. Must be Null modem cable
