Advice needed please
Hi all.
I'm looking for some help please. I currently have Zzoomm fibre and want to change to a netgear nighthawk wiffi 7 router. I also need 2 mesh extenders/boosters. I'm nit sure what would suite. I need better reception around my home. My house is about 175 years old.
Obviously I don't want to spend a fortune on a system.
If anybody can help or offer some advice on what products might suite I would appreciate the help please. I'm not very clued up on the technical jargon for this kind of stuff.
Many thans in advance.

175 year old houses can cause issues because they tend to be made with pretty durable materials like brick/concrete. They do an incredible job of blocking wifi. Making extenders and mesh solutions unstable.
What are your interior walls made from?
Like StephenB says, what else is installed? Ethernet? Coax? These can help with mesh systems for a wired backhaul in those older homes and can help determine whats best.
Whats your budget?
What speeds are you looking at getting? Same speed everywhere or high close by the initial router and the rest can be slower (for things like IoT devices, etc)
Whats it being used for? Gaming? Streaming? Work from home?

I think this depends a lot on where you live, so it is important to get details from Tinkerbell666. In my area (suburban New England), houses from that era are mostly multi-story wood construction. But they often do have central brick fireplaces that will block wifi. Old-school steam radiators (or heating ducts) can also get in the way.
Also, it would be good to know if the interior plaster walls have a metal mesh (or use a metal lathe). Unlikely to have been built that way originally (though some homes were), but later renovations could use that material.

Can you give a bit more detail on the house - number of floors, approx square feet (or square meters) per floor. Maybe also info on any fireplaces (as the chimneys can block wifi).
Are the interior walls all wooden construction?
Do you have any existing ethernet or coax cabling installed? If so, what floors does that reach?
