log into the router and look at the attached devices list. find the IP address for the extender and use that. The router has to translate the mywifiext address and isn't directing it to the extender.

The router does never resolve these extender local DNS hosts, only the extender does handle this if it does discover the plain text DNS query. Said this: If your wireless device does use a secured DNS channel, the extender will never see the query.

In summary if the device is connected to the extender it works fine using the mywifiext and if not, use its IP address.

- bhaynesAug 14, 2023AspirantI want to be able to log into the interface to change settings to the extender.
I tried using the extender's ip address. I get "This Site can't be reached"- bhaynesAug 14, 2023Aspirant
This site can’t be reached
(my ip address) took too long to respond.
Try:
- Checking the connection
- Checking the proxy and the firewall
- Running Windows Network Diagnostics
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUTCheck your internet connection.
Check any cables and reboot any routers, modems, or other network devices you may be using.
Allow Opera to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings.
If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server…
Check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server: Go to the Main menu > Settings > Change Proxy Settings… > LAN Settings and deselect "Use a proxy server for your LAN".

The network shows in the list for available networks( and I am able to connect to it). However I can not log in to mywifiext to change settings on my extender or to sign up for a new acct, I can not use the IP address either. Now sure what I am doing wrong. I have tried using my desktop and my phone. Nothing is able to pull up anything. I assume there has to be an issue with my router or something?

Lets' try to bring some transparency what is "the network" (limited to where the fancy name resolution is active)
The extender creates two new extender WiFi networks. The extender’s new WiFi network names are based on your existing WiFi network name, with _2GEXT and _5GEXT at the ends of the names.
For example:
• Existing WiFi network name. MyNetworkName
• New extender network names. MyNetworkName_2GEXT and MyNetworkName_5GEXT
Use the same WiFi password that you use for your WiFi router.Only when connected to the MyNetworkName_2GEXT and MyNetworkName_5GEXT networks, this name resolution can be workable - not on the MyNetworkName network.
Note: I said can because some more fancy modern OS might use secured DNS (encrypted) for privacy. In these situations, the mywifiext or mywifiext[.com] or mywifiext[.net] and so on will resolve to the public IP address pointing to the landing page.

What new account again, please?

You can find the extender LAN IP on your router DHCP resp. "connected devices" list, when looking up the extender MAC address. Whatever default extender LAN IP you might have in mind are not active once the router DHCP has assigned an IP address
