Cannot setup a new EX2700 N300 WiFi Range Extender
I have just purchased an EX2700 and am attempting to set it up. I'm accessing the device from a MacBook Pro with OS 10.12.6 (Sierra) and I've used both Safari and Firefox browsers.
My router does not have WPS so I'm using the NETGEAR Installation Assistant (page 10 in the manual).
I have a green Power LED on the device and I can connect to a NETGEAR_EXT WiFi network. When I do so, I'm presented with a popup window, entitled 'Join "NETGEAR_EXT" ' that starts the installation process, by setting up a new account. The account setup process is apparently successful, but when I try to login to continue the setup, I keep getting sent back to the same Login page.
I've clicked on the Username & Password link and confirmed that I am entering the correct Username and Password. I have also done a Factory Reset three times.
This is very frustrating and I would appreciate any suggestions. I've lots of IT experience from mainframes to iPhones and I've been a SYSADMIN in my time, so this ought to be within my capabilities!
I find it ironic that one of the security questions asks for the name of my first NETGEAR device. This may be my first and last! :)

1. check if you have any autofill or password managers. They're great at over writing login/passwords.
2. the login info is case sensitive as well as sensitive to spaces.
3. try to avoid special characters in the login/password
4. Try using a pc if you've got one.
5. also try going through the setup with the laptop directly connected to the extender. just make sure to disable the wireless on the laptop so it isn't defaulting back to wireless.
what firmware is the extender on?- mycroft47Aspirant
plemans,
Thanks for your response. I've checked 1, 2 and 3. No issues.
4. I'll try a PC later when I have access to one.
5. I tried a direct Ethernet connection but could not access the device. This is consistent with what the manual says on page 16:
"Can I connect the extender to the router wih an Ethernet cable?"
"No. The extender is deisgned to cnnect wirelessly to the router or access point."
How can I check the firmware when I can't connect?
Regards.

You can connect a laptop/desktop to the extender. You just can't connect a router to it and run it in access point mode. The EX2700 is the base model for extenders so it doesn't have that feature. But you can hardwire a laptop/desktop to it.
