Can't Access WN3000RP mywifiext.net Page

I just purchased WN3000RP Range Extender and had no issues at all connecting it to my Netgear WNR3500 Router. I see both SSID's when I do a scan, but when I type in http://www.mywifiext.net or http://www.mywifiext.com I cannot connect to the Range Extender. I have tried to connect to the Extender's setup page when I'm connected to the router's SSID and the EXT SSID without success. I can ping the EXT device on the network.

Do I have a DNS issue? If so how do I correct it? I have tried my private IP address x.x.x.1. I have also tried the DNS setting on my router that says "Get Automatically from ISP". I have also tried my Open DNS settings which I have been using for years and I still can't connect to the mywifiext.net page.

I have reset the WN3000RP and this did not resolve the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

  • you need to use ethernet cable to the extender for first initial setups
  • I was able to gain access to the page by first finding what IP address was assigned to the Extender. I then typed in the IP address in the URL field which is a private IP and I was then able to access the setup page for the Range Extender.

I then assigned a static IP address to the Range Extender and confirmed that I can ping the device. I cannot access the internet when I am connected to the EXT SSID as it cannot find my DNS server. Can you point me to a correction for this issue? When I'm on the primary SSID, there is no issue with accessing the internet.

I cannot download the firmware upgrade either as it goes to the netgear page and finds the firmware, but times out trying to download/install. I believe if I get the DNS issue resolved everything else will all in line.
  • Old thread but wanted to post the fix I found. The instructions and the back of the device say to log in at http://www.mywifiext.net or just www.mywifiext.net.

This is incorrect information. In order to log into the extender via a wireless connection you must go to mywifiext.net. Do not add the "www" as this is what is causing the problem.
  • Make sure there is not active wifi enable on computer you are using, Disable it

Then use ethernet to the extender and try again

have had the same problem and it took me a long time to solve it. The solution is to 1st of all make absolutely certain that the Wi-Fi is turned off on the computer and secondly I found that I actually turned off my main modem and the mywifiext then worked.  Alternatively192.168.1.250 also seems to work. As soon the program comes up on the screen I was then able to turn my main modem on again. If the modem doesn't come on in time it won't have been able to make a connection in which case you have to press the refresh button to have another try. From then onwards everything is fairly straightforward

I tried following what you suggested but when I typed in the web addresses suggested, it said there was no internet connection, obviously because I had turned off wifi and the main modem....

Any other suggestions? Haven't been able to add any new devices into the wifi network for a while now.
