Connecting Netgear AC1200 Dual Band EX6150 WiFi Range Extender & AT&T Arris NVG589 router wirelessly

I purchased an AC1200 EX6150 Extender this weekend and am attempting to connect to an AT&T Arris NVG589 router. The initial attempt I was able to get the WPS light to flash but failed to connect. The WPS light will no longer light or flash. HELP please.

    Have you tried the manual setup by connecting to the extender and going through the setup wizard.
