Ethernet connection to http://www.mywifiext.net disappears after configuring

Very strange: After I connect to http://www.mywifiext.net from my laptop to my extender, I can go though the wizard setup, and it works fine. Meaning I can connect my phone to the _EXT SSID, and my laptop can use the Web via the Ethernet connection. But after I hit the checkbox at the final prompt "My wireless devices are connected...", my connection to http://www.mywifiext.net disappears, and I can never log in to the extender again. I know I am not using my laptop's wifi, and I can get anywhere else on the Web OK, just not to this URL, so I can never again get to the settings of my extender to change anything.

 

I did a factory reset (paper clip pressing the reset button), and the exact same thing happened again.

 

I am connecting to a new Comcast/Xfinity Wireless Gateway 802.11ac, model XB3 I think.

Any help appreciated!

    Hello ipthomas

    It seems your router is changing the Ip address of the router so in order to get back to the settings you need to find the new IP address and plug that into your web browser.
