EX2700 – WiFi Range Extender Unable to connect to extender

Good morning everyone

I received my new EX2700 yesterday and I failed to get it set up.

I need anyone's help.

model version: Ex2700;  OS: Windows 10

So I have done the following:

1 Connection between Router and Extender done via WPS. This has been done ok. All green lights as it should be. I have done this at close range, mid range, and long range. All green lights with Power, WPS, and Router are perfect.

2. New WIFI network added with the extension _EXT.

3. When trying to connect entering password it fails. I have tried the same password as my WIFI router and the one that comes with the Extender for WPS.

4. It fails to connect. The green light of Device comes on for a few seconds then fais to connect. It keeps saying unable to connect.

I need help please. Where is the failure found? Is it the extender? my router? My router works fine.. we use it everyday.

I would really appreciate if anyone can help me.

Thank you very much.

Oscar

  • Try resetting the extender, and this time don't press WPS.

Then join the NETGEAR_EXT network, and browse to www.mywifiext.net.  From there you can complete the setup manually.

Hi, I too have the same issue but can't resolve things. Bascially, I have followed the set up instructions but cannot get the extender to set up via WPS. I have no idea why not. So, I've followed the route to manual setup. All going well until I get to the screen that allows me to select the wifi network and then asks for passkey. When I enter the passkey from the router, I get this message:

"Invalid key, the 64 bit encription only allows 10 hexadecimals value or 5 characters string!"

I am completely confused and have no idea what to do next. This shouldn't be so hard!

      Can anyone help me?

What network security setting did you set in the EX2700?

It should be WPA2-PSK (which won't use 64 bit encryption).
