EX2700 Connection Issue

I've just bought the Netgear N300 WiFi Range Extender Model EX2700, but I am unable to connect it to my wireless network. If apply power to the device the Power Led turns green, then whenever I try to connect to my wireless network on the netgear genie smarts setup the device shuts itself down after about 20 seconds of connection to the device by wifi (NETGEAR_EXT)

how do I fix this?

  • Try to do factory reset on the device . If issue persists, the unit maybe faulty. You may contact the reseller for replacement or contact NETGEAR tech support via email, chat or phone for further assistance.

Problem solved, I'm getting a new one.
        Thanks for your help btw.

  • Netgear tech support walked me through this.  First they asked me to do a rather odd factory reset process.  They asked me to hold a paperclip in the reset hole for 2 mins, all the while plugging and unplugging the extender 15 times.  The tech support person then told me that my free tech support services had expired and that I would have to purchase a new service package to continue.  After a few minutes of hemming and hawing about the price of the service being more than the cost of a new extender, he gave me a bit of a hint, saying that it might be my security protocol and that WPA2-PSK (TKIP) might be causing the problem, but after refusing to purchase the plan, that was all he could help me with.  I gleened from that comment that I should change my security protocol from TKIP to WPA2-PSK (AES).  That seemed to fix the problem.  I have a feeling it had more to do with the latter process than the former.  I wonder if they'll allow this post to stay up since they seem to be more interested in selling service plans that helping customers.  We'll see....
