EX3700 can't extend 2.4GHz band

Since a month ago, my EX3700 has slow issues. I have power cycled several times and now it can't extend my 2.4GHz band from R6700v2.

I updated the channels in R6700v2 like 2.4GHz -> 01 and 5GHz -> 161. The 5GHz speed now is good again. However, the 2.4GHz I still can't extend. I switched to channel 11 once and worked for a while then stopped again. I even moved the extender 8 feet away from the router in the same room but was still unable to extend. I did move to a farther room and it did connect to 2.4GHz; however, the connection speed showed slower than it used to be and it was in the same room.

The firmware is the latest and I also did reset it.

The current location I can't extend the 2.4GHz band. However, I can use my phone to connect to that ssid and test with awesome speed. I also tried another EX2700 extender in the same location and it did extend it.

Should I try other channels other than 1, 6, 11 for 2.4GHz? If I use an app to test the best channels, should I just test right at that location? Any other suggestions or is it a defative one?

  • Hi Retired_Member,

You can try other channels for 2.4GHz. Also, try to do a reset and reconfigure it if the issue persist.

As my original post, I did mention I did the reset. I also did reconfig several times. The 2.4GHz SSID can be seen with 100% signal, but it just can't connect it. It mentions to check if my router has a black list but I double check there is none.

        Hi Retired_Member,

May I know the security type selected for 2.4 and 5GHz on your router?
