EX6100 won't work with LG TV

I bought a Netgear EX6100 extender and it works well with everything except an LG 47LV5500-UA TV. I get the error message “Failed to connect to network. Check if DHCP is set in gateway. IF DHCP is not set, set IP manually.” The TV works with my WNDR4300 router @ 2.4 or 5.0 GHz. I bought the extender mainly for the TV since it’s in an area with weak signal strength and we watch a lot of Hulu Plus and Netflix. I even hardwired the extender and got the same message. thanks

Have you tried setting IP data manually at the TV? Error messages given by devices like TVs are often simplistic or misleading, they will for example comment about DHCP even though they have not made a basic wireless connection to the network, i.e. they will complain about a symptom rather than the cause. So if you set IP data manually at the TV and you still don’t get a connection then the problem is likely to be something other than DHCP.
  • Thanks that did it, TV is working great! No buffering like before either the extender was a great investment. thanks again

Well it’s great that it is now working, so if you set a static IP for the PC what IP did you use? It’s good practice to use an IP outside the router’s DHCP range, e.g. set the router DHCP range to something like 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.100, then static IPs can be set above that range.
  • I set the I.P. address to 192.168.1.7, I have to say I’m impressed with this little extenders performance now streaming videos are nice and smooth and no buffering. :)
