EX7000 / AC1900 Extender cannot connect using Hotel Wifi

I am traveling for business and trying to set up a Range Extender to use in my room with the Hotel Wifi.  The hotel wifi normally just brings you to a page on the laptop to say "Connect Now" and then you are in.

I added and set up the AC1900, it says it is connected to the Hotel Wifi, but I cannot connect to the wifi I created.  Windows 10 just says "verifying and connecting" and after a bit says "can'tconnect to this network".  My iPad says "Incorrect Password" even though it is the correc tone.

Online Firmware Update fails, even though my laptop is connected to the internet and I have ethernet connected to the Extender.  It just times out while looking for the update.  I downloaded the latest firmware update and with an ethernet to the Netgear box and pointing to the correct zip file, the Firmware update failed with  blank page saying "The page was not displayed because the request entity is too large."

If I point to the .chk file after unpacking the zip, it fails with "Firmware Upgrade Failed.  Please check your file"

I have reset the unit, run through the setup a couple of times, tried various security settings on the wifi, etc.

IAre all these issues related to not being able to connect properly to the Hotel Wifi to begin with?  And are their any solutions to any of the connection issues.  Please do nto recommend the PR2000 box, I already saw those posts and that product is no longer available.

thanks for any help

  • Update 1.

There are two models of the EX7000 and I was downloading the wrong firmware.  It is not obvious which one to use.  Mine is the EX7000-100NAS which is NOT listed soecifically, and I was downloading the EX7000-1AZNAS firmware.

Now have the latest firmware, but the connectivity issues to the hotel wifi still exist.  I cannot connect to the entender new network that I created.
