EX7300 problem setting up after firmware update

I recived my new Netgear Nighthawk AC220 EX7300v2 today. I did the setup with the app, took longer time for the app to find the extender, It told me to go to Wifi settings to connect with Netgear_EXT and I did. It was able to connect to it. It had firmware there a update for it and I let it update.After it instill the update and rebooted, it was not able to connect to my DSL modem. It told me I needed to go to Wifi settings to connect with my DSL modem and I did. It was able to connect. It could not connect to Extender and told me I needed to go o Wifi settings to connect with Netgear_EXT and I did and did not show it listed. I am thinking the firmware did not instill correctly or I have a defected Exender. The Netgear_EXT does not show up on my iphone Wifi, laptop Wifi and tablet Wifi.

    If it setup in default mode, it sets up with mesh/single ssid enabled. Meaning it connects to the router and uses the same ssid.

    It can be confusing at times.

    What you can do for ease of setup and to be sure its setup how you'd like?

    Factory reset the extender, push and hold reset for 7-15 seconds while powered on.

    Then hardwire in the extender via pc/laptop. Make sure that device has its wifi off so it doesn't default back to the wireless.

    Then go through setup via the hardwired in device.

    Setup this route tends to go smoother and faster and you can be sure everything is setup and working how you want.

      Thank You for helping me and it worked. My new question is:
      Do I use Fast Lane?

      The router is in the living room and office.

      Living Room:
      Roku Stick

      Office:
      Wireless Printer
      Laptop
      The extender is plugged in the middle of the house where there two bed rooms near.

      My Bedroom:
      Laptop
      Tablet

      Guest bed room 1:
      Laptop
      Tablet

      Guest bedroom 2:
      Tablet

      Is there a option to have extender decide what bands to use?

      What is v2 mean in the model number?

        v2 means version 2.

        usually updates/optimization to the design.

        Fastlane is something you need to test. In some cases, it works really well. For others there isn't any improvement.

        As well as the different modes can make it more/less optimial for your situation. Reason why is 2.4ghz is much slower but penetrates further. 5ghz has much higher speeds but doesn't transmit as far or through as much. But fastlane does decrease latency.

        Modes: router-----2.4ghz signal-----extender----->5ghz devices

                     router--------5ghz signal-------extender------>2.4ghz devices

        so that's why I say you'd need to try each mode and see which works better for your situation.

      Thank you plemans for helping me.

      Should I get a Wifi 6 Extender? Seems like when you go to something newer that came out, something else new comes along.

        Your bottleneck is the dsl. You can have the worlds fastest extender but it isn't going to be faster than your dsl setup.
