EX7500 Configuration when Router does not support 5GHz
Just purchased my EX7500 and updated to the latest Firmware Version V1.0.0.38_1.0.54 My Cable Modem is a Netgear CG3000v2 which only support only 2.4GHz Wifi Issues : The Status Page shows the 2....
As I stated in my original post, My Cable Modem is a Netgear CG3000v2 which only supports 2.4GHz Wifi
So ...
(1) There is no 5GHz channel from the modem/router to the EX7500, but the EX7500 Status Page shows as having the 5GHz channel is open for wireless connection, the status lights shows "blue" as active and porerational, but that seems to be somewhat problematic ... no 5GHz channel through to the modem/router
(2) If I disable the 5GHz channel on the Setting Page and "save", the EX7500 "dies" with no communication possible, and I have to reset it to factory settings to restore its operation.

Did you enabled one wifi name and smart connect on EX7500 during setup? Though your router is single band, extender will broadcast both 2.4 and 5GHz as it is dual band. You doesn't need to disable 5GHz on extender. Could you please describe the issue that you are facing with 5GHz of extender? Disabling 5GHz doesn't distrupt extender's connection to router. If you witness it, try doing network power cycle(Turn off both extender and router, turn on router 1st, wait till its ready and then turn on extender) and check if that resolve your issue.
Yes, only one SSID (one wifi name) and standard "Smart Connect" at setup.
(1) Can you please explain why the EX7500 enables the 5GHz channel when there is no 5GHz channel back to the router ? What purpose does the active 5GHz channel have for the EX7500 ?
(2) Can you explain why disabling 5GHz on the Settings Page, disables the EX7500 entirely, to the point that it needs to be reset to factory settings ?

Since this extender is Triband and second 5GHz is reserved for back haul, it'll broadcast first 5GHz network so that you can connect any 5GHz capable devices to it where if you have smart connect enabled, it'll swicth between bands based on bandwidth allocation and traffic on the bands. It should not disable the entire extender when you disable 5GHz which looks akward though. What firmware version are you using on this device?
