Internet provider provided new Adtran router and my devices can’t connect to my EX8000 2.4 extension

My Internet provider replaced their old router with a new Adtran router. I connected my Nighthawk EX 8000 to the new router and kept the Extender's WiFi name and password the same as the router. I split mt two bandwidths on the router to have separate 2.4 an 5G names. But I can't get any of my 2.4 GHz devices to connect to the EX8000 extension WiFi. All the 2.4 devices continue to be connected to the router's poor connection instead of connecting to the Extended connection.

When you setup the EX8000, did you use the wps method of setup?

Or did you use the installation assistant?

when you use the assistant, theres a section that asks you to extend both the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz. Uncheck the 2.4ghz. You'll still be able to use it but it'll force the extender to use the 5ghz dedicated backhaul. Tends to function smoother.

You're using the same ssid on the 2.4ghz for the router and the extender?

Does the new router have a "smart connect" or single ssid function?

If so, enable that and follow how I described above with the "uncheck 2.4ghz"

  • I used the nighthawk app for my set up. I am using the same SSID for my 2.4 GHz on the extender as I have on the router. I don’t know if the router has a smart connect or a single SSID function. The router was provided by my Internet provider so I don’t know
