Looking for a device which wiil enable me to establish a local network

Question

Hi,&nbsp;I'm looking for a device which will enable me to:1. Establish a local WiFi network, and connect several mobile devices to a&nbsp;this local network&nbsp;(no internet connection needed)2. Outdoors, where there's no WiFi available3. If you are willing to sacrifice wireless security and don't need a lot of bandwidth, you can just use a Windows or Mac laptop to create an ad hoc Wi-Fi netework.

Since you have no need for Internet access, I would not recommend the mobile broadband hotspots. You'd be wasting money on the unneeded cellular modem. But come to think of it, if you have a smartphone with hotspot enabled, you could use it as a local network.

You didn't specify the range required for your outdoor Wi-Fi network, but any of the Wi-Fi routers should work. The PR2000, being a travel router, may work only over short distances.

Thanks for answering.&nbsp;Some more input:1. Security is not an issue2. I do need a lot of bandwidth, and quite a lot of devices (couple of dozens), although for start few devices will do fine3. I prefer not to use a laptop, since I need a mobile and&nbsp;lightweight solution4. I need a range of about 10m radius5. I guess that a smartphone with hotspot enabled won't be enough for a lot of bandwidth and more than a few devices...&nbsp;Appreciate any solution that could meet these needs :)

How much bandwidth do you need per device?&nbsp;Do you have any idea if the devices can do 5 GHz or will they be 2.4 GHz only?&nbsp;Since this is outdoors, is A/C power available?

Need enough bandwidth for Voice over IP.No - no idea about 5 of 2.4 GHz - why is this a consideration?A/C power is not available, but I can take a battery, or better - get a device with a built in battery, like on of these:http://www.hootoo.com/portable-travel-router.html

5 GHz vs 2.4 GHz is a consideration because there is much more bandwidth available at 5 GHz than at 2.4 GHz. &nbsp;But Voice over IP is not a high bandwidth application, so you may be able to get away with just using 2.4 GHz. &nbsp;Besides, without A/C power, that really limits your choices to travel routers unless you use a DC to AC power inverter. &nbsp;Almost all travel routers are 2.4 GHz only. &nbsp;The only dual band travel router I can find is made by D-Link but one review said that it's limited to 5 devices which, if true, would not meet your needs. &nbsp;Any N300 class travel router that can support a couple dozen of users should work.&nbsp;
