Netgear AX1600 Mesh Extender help
I have a TP-Link Deco Mesh Wifi and found that I had a spare extender (the Netgear AX1600) and thought I could use it together with the other units I have around the house.
Tried to plug it in and see if I could get it to connect and while the power light turns green, none of the other lights come on.
Tried the Netgear "Nighthawk" app and it tries to get me to connect to a network called "NETGEAR_EXT" it doesn't exist and naturally fails connecting. Is this really the only way to get this unit to join my network?
Any help appreciated, thanks!

The chances of getting a Netgear device to work with a Mesh system from another brand are next to zero. You can't even connect different models fo Netgear Mesh satellites.
We don't know what model your Netgear device is. AX1600 is not a reliable guide to model number. Many devices come with an AX tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and other brands, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.
Look at the label on the device for the model number.
If it is a wifi extender, then you'll need to ask TP-Link for advice on how to add things to its network. But don't expect it to join the Mesh network.

The mesh extenders default setup mode is "mesh".
Meaning if you hit the wps button on both, it'll have the same ssid as the tp-link.
What are the led's on it doing?
If you want it setup separate, factory reset it and use the installation assistant.
To factory reset, push and hold the reset button for 7-15 seconds while powered on.
Here's a video of how to use the assistant.

Purchased the ax1600 mesh extender eax12-100 na and have tried to link with the spectrum sax1v1k and have had no success. In the installation it says that if WAP is in use that extender cannot connect. Have logged on to spectrums app to see if it could be turned off although it isn’t possible from there. Also can it be turned back on to keep security in tact . If not , should I just give up on this and purchase spectrums “pods” instead?

Agree. However, not sure why we have to pay attention to the OP posting SEO Spam and Scam in it's signature - especially with multiple reports are bluntly ignored by the Netgear moderators for months - and this kind of SEO garbage does come up in new posts of new community "members" with fake profiles almost daily.
Fun part is an obvious misreading or misinterpretation of the note in the EAX12 User manual

Note: If your router’s WiFi security is set to WPA enterprise, WPA2 enterprise, or WEP,
your extender can’t connect to your router. You must change your router’s WiFi security
setting.---
This what made JackTrades disabling the Wireless Security to Open on his Spectrum SAX1V1K. 8-)
