netgear nighthawk x4 EX7300, Causing network performance issues.

I recently bought a new netgear nighthawk x4 EX7300 range extender. When I installed and connected to my router I noticed that performance on my devices that are hard wired to the router had slowed dramatically and that one device has even stopped connecting and drops off the network. However, any device connected to the EX7300 via wifi seems to run fine.

Not sure where to begin hunting for the proverbial needle in the haystack.

If I remove the EX7300 and put in place my older EX6150 extender then the problem goes away and everything works fine.

The EX7300 has the most current firmware as at today 29/07/2016

Would kindly appreciate any help guys, thanks.

  • Since posting this morning, I have used a network analyser and found that I am getting duplicate IP addresses on my network. This only happens when I plug the EX7300 in and connect to the router using wifi.

The EX7300 is configured to use the main router as its DNS server but despite this seems to be issuing IP addresses that the main router has issued to other devices on the network.

Anyone know what may be causing this to happen??

      Hello ChrisW61

You may want to try and use address reservation on the main router and reserve the IP that the extender is using. You can also try to factory reset the extender and do the setup again to make sure its not just some odd behavior it is doing.

      Hello AthycayP

Are you running the latest firmware on your router and extender?
