Solid Amber Power light with Solid Blue internet lights

AC1200 is a speed rating, not a device model. There are several extenders with the AC1200 rating. Can you tell us the model?
Likely it is an EX6110, EX6120, EX6150, or EX6200

The amber power light means that the extender is stuck in the boot process.
If you haven't tried unplugging it, and plugging it back in again, then do that next. While you are doing that, make sure the extender/access point switch is in the correct position. If there is an ethernet cable connecting the extender to the router, then it should be in the "access point" position. If not, it should be in the "extender" position.
If that still fails, try resetting the extender. You unbend a paper clip, and push that into the factory reset slot shown on page 6 of the manual here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/EX6150v2/EX6150v2_UM_EN.pdf. Details on are page 41 ( but you keep the reset button pushed until the amber power light blinks). After that you need to set up the extender again.
If that fails, then you should check your warranty status. I believe the warranty is 1 year from purchase. If there is warranty, you can request a replacement via my.netgear.com. You can also get paid support from them, though it might be easier to just purchase a new extender. DexterJB might have some other suggestions.
