SUggestions on how to setup 3 wifi extender
I bought 3 wifi extender WN3000RP
i want to bridge one over the other to extend my wifi
I have run into some problems, my original wifi router is a CISCO NAV10-WF (Navigator)
So i setup the first wifi to connect to Navigator and his SSID is Navigator_EXT, i connect to Navigator_EXT and everything is working fine.
i power on the second router, i connect to it, i set it up as Navigator_EXT_1 and connecting to Navigator_EXT, the internet led does not power on, i do not get internet connection on this router, and it also screw up with Navigator_EXT because it doesn't have internet connectivity also, if i power off Navigator_EXT_1, then Navigator_EXT is fine.
i won't start connecting the third router till i can get the first two to work, any suggestions?
my phone is stuck at obtaining IP address when i try to connect to the second router, my PC is saying no internet connectivity.
i am doing this setup in a room just for testing, so the router are very close, connected to different power applets about 5 meters away from each other.
i was wondering if having the same SSID would be better?
i'm doing this setup because later i'd like to connect about 6 wifi cameras for a security system, each camera will connect automatically to the wifi i tell it to connect, but i don't want it to connect to the far away one if they have the same SSID i think it could happen.
i am a bit lost, searching for some kind of guidance...
Should i set up static IP for the routers??

- grandixximoNoviceJust noticed something, i tryed to use the third repeater i had and set it up like the second.
i noticed something, after the second repeater tryes to connect i go and see his status and the gateway and DNS are 0.0.0.0 both, then i connect to the first router and it's the same 0.0.0.0
but before the first one was correct 192.168....
so they are conflicting with each other or something, have no idea, at this point i'm not sure it's even possible to do what i'm asking with this device. - jmizoguchiVirtuosoNot good idea.
1. You will always loose half of the speed from each extender
2. Seems extender products for netgear do not like multiple extending
Now I personally and for my client I use open mesh products (open-mesh.com) and use multiple AP and works great .
While you want to look their products and free awesome cloud services here is doc on how extending ,repeating in performance works
http://cloudtrax-static.s3.amazonaws.com/docs/network_planning_guide.pdf - grandixximoNoviceIs there anything other than open mesh?
something from netgear linksys dlink?
something i can find in China, which is where is live, open mesh seems very nice but i can't find it here unfortunatly. - grandixximoNoviceis there no way at all to make this work?
i don't need it super fast as log as i have few frame per seconds fromt one or two cameras, probably aroun 100kb/s - jmizoguchiVirtuosoYou can do with any Access point device but you will see same result and open mesh has better design for multiple AP than other AP
- grandixximoNoviceI'll leave this for future reference to anyone having this problem
the WN3000RP is unable to work in a cascade connection.
it's not possible to connect multimple WN3000RP to each other, they can only be connected to other access points which are wired to a network.
you can connect more than one to the same access point, but you cannot connect an extender to another extender, at least not the WN3000RP.
The fact that this repeater is unable to be connected in cascade should be specified on the manual.
Anyway the shop where i bought them it's taking them back.
thanks for your help jmizoguchi, you were right you would lose 50% with other extender able to do cascade connections, but the WN3000RP don't do cascade. - jmizoguchiVirtuosoSeems cascade the extender has not world most people
While performance always same when you setup products like open mesh has smarter to communicate to make mesh network
Good luck finding what you want
