unable to connect to Wifi through NetGear EX6100 Extender even though they are linked to router

I have a wifi with dual band and an ATT Uverse router (Pace Model #5268AC). I gave each network a custom name based on frequency and therefore have Home2.4 and Home5.  I have installed two extenders EX6100 following the web based procedure (WPS button would not work see below).  Throught the installation process, I have given custom names to the extenders as well, Extender 1 and Extender 2, so that the extended neworks are uniquely named Home2.4 - Extender 1 or 2 and Home5 - Extender 1 or 2. The extenders are now set, with light green and steady for link to router however...none of my devices, Mac, iphone, ipad, can connect to the internet when selecting either of the four extended networks.

I have been working on this for a while and consider myself reasonably competent.  I have followed the procedure to the letter, reset to factory mode, etc. multiple times.  To this day, I am unable to connect any device to the internet using any of the extended networks despite the fact they appear to be linked to the router and that the installation went fine. I appreciate any help.

Additionally, my observations on a few things that are NOT working:

1/ The WPS installation does not seem to work because I have a custom name for each network (Home2.4 and Home5). It appears it randomly selects one network (Home2.4 most of the time) and assigns it 2EXT and 5EXT to reflect the dual band.  For example, Home2.4-5EXT never works.

2/ When using the web based installation, the system creates two extended networks even after unchecking the box for one of them (say the 5GH network). It basically ignores the selection and always creates two extensions.

3/ When using the web based interface to log back in (at mywifiext.net), I can only access "New Extender Setup" and never edit those already installed

4/ Using NetGear Genie, I am unable to log into the router (originally I wanted to be able to change the names of the extended networks that way) as the message says "NetGear router not found or not supported: I suspect NetGear does not work with ATT router.

  • I have the same problem with ex1600 extender and I'm using it with a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 router. I can't get in to change anything. I wanted to switch over to access point mode but can't get in to secure the connection. I'm stuck at the boy and dog screen. I need help!

    Hello WIll75

Have you tried to factory reset the unit or try another web browser?

  • Eventually had a guy from the GeekSquad come home.  It turns out the AT&T router, which came with my UVerse service, cannot allocate a different IP address to each band, which creates continuous conflict for each extender.  Only extended the 2.4 network and things are working fine now. The alternative may be to change the router to one that is compatible with AT&T service.
