WN2000RPT ext will not connect to Netgear router
Hi There
I recently had a blackout and am trying to connect my netgear extender to my netgear router. The extender has 3 green lights but we are unable to connect any technology to it. We have tried to restore the extender to factory settings but it still won't work. I have tried to login to mywifiext.net but the page won't open. My warranty expired in March this year so am unable to get help or support from Netgear.
Help !! What can I do? Any help would be appreciated

- jbgarciaAspirantI just want to make sure I understand your question.
Are you unable to connect to the wireless network being broadcasted by the extender? or are you unable to connect the extender to the wireless network broadcasted by the main wireless router?
I would assume that you cannot even connect to the extender's wireless network because you said you cannot access the settings of the extender using the mywifiext.net url on your browser.
Did you directly connect your computer to the extender with an ethernet cord and tried accessing mywifiext.net?
Are you getting an IPv4 address that starts with 192.168.x.x on the Local Area connection of your computer when you connect it to the extender with an ethernet cord?
if you are getting a valid IPv4 address when you are connected to the extender. Get the Default Gateway IP Address then try using that to access the settings. so instead of typing in http://www.mywifiext.net on your browser, type the IP Address of the extender or the Default gateway IP Address that can be found on computer's Local Area Connection property, given that this computer is connected to the extender with an ETHERNET CORD.
If you can access the settings then try to run the setup wizard again and follow through the setup process.
if it does not work. Just let us know again.. - lurzanNoviceTo reset Extender: 1. Push a pin to the reset hold in the extender when it's plug in to the power 2. Wait for the Power light to blink for 8 times 3. Remove the pin from reset hole and unplug the extender from power to turn it off for about 40 seconds 4. After you plug the power back to the extender, wait for the power light to turn green. Hopefully that should reset your extender to the default factory setting and when you look for the wireless network in your wireless device, it's should detect the default wireless network of the extender which is NETGEAR_EXT. Try to connect to that network and you should be able to reconfigure the extender. In case if the above steps doesn't work - connect one of your computer to the extender using an Ethernet cord - try to open the extender gui using www.mywifiext.net or 192.168.1.250 - when asked for username and password, type in admin and password respectively and login to NETGEAR Genie (or) Smart Wizard - try to do soft reset (Backup Settings-Revert to Factory Default Settings-Erase) and reconfigure the extender. If you are unable to open the extender GUI using www.mywifiext.net or 192.168.1.250, then you can try recover the firmware of the extender using TFTP process.
- reverendfrogAspirant|I'm having the same issue. I can't even access the extender (WN2000RPT) using ethernet cable and using 192.168.1.250. This is after i have used the set-up wizard. it will talk me through all the steps and then as soon as the final step is concluded, it will tell me it can't connect to the internet.
what do i do? this seems to be a very common issue with these extenders, not good enough - reverendfrogAspirantI should add that i ran a command prompt ipconfig /all when connected to the extender via wireless AND ethernet. Neither of the IP addresses (169.254.234.241 or 169.254.124.180) worked when i tried to use them to access the extender.
- BonzoBallAspirantI am having the same problem. Why can't we connect using mywifi.ext any more ? When I key in the address it now takes me to an "ooops" page on the live NetGear site. But more importunely I need to connect to my ext !:mad::mad:
- BonzoBallAspirantJust a thought, but could it be something to do with the browsers that http://mywifiext.net now looks externally for a response and not directly to the ethernet-connected repeater ? PLEASE help ! :):)
- FairytailVirtuosoCheck the IP address of the extender. Probably the IP address was changed when you set up the extender that is why you cannot access it via mywifiext.net.

so how do I change the IP address of the extender??
