WN2000RPTv2 connection issues
I'm having trouble reaching the internet through a WN2000RPTv2. It has the latest firmware (1.1.0.12) and my Win7x64 laptop shows internet connectivity and Home Group access, but I cannot reach any webpages, including mywifiext.net or .com. (I get an instant redirect to http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/wifiextdevice.asp with a 404 error on that web page).
I am able to communicate with the extender at 192.168.1.250, but if I try to check for firmware updates from the extender I get a "No Internet Connection" message.
Can anyone give me some suggestions?

4. However my real question was...Netgear admits to having a piece of faulty equipment and suggests it be returned for exchange---my question is...what should I exchange it with?? the same model unit known for it's defects or a better unit??
Before you try replacing your unit, you might want try assigning a static DNS on your NETGEAR extender and the computer connecting to your extender. It may help if you can bring the extender on the same room where your router is to isolate any problems with interference. - MistaboneAspirantThanks for your help here however assigning a static DNS would require buying a different type of IP Address from Comcast--If I am wrong about this I have no idea how to accomplish this suggestion--and bringing the extender into the same room as the router would only defeat the whole purpose of the extender in my 2 story 3500 square foot house I do think...

I believe you are referring to a static IP address that is usually given by Internet Service Providers. I am referring to the static DNS address that can be configured manually on the NETGEAR extender and your PC. You can use the set value of 4.2.2.2 for your Primary DNS server and 4.2.2.3 for your Secondary DNS server.
I am merely suggesting that you put the extender on the same room for isolation purposes. - ralgvlTutorJust one question, are you broadcasting or not. The reason I ask is I am trying to help a friend out and we can get on the internet okay when we broadcast but when I turn the broadcast off we can't make a connection to the internet. So I was reading all the threads on the above to see if anyone is having a similar issue. I intend to submit a netgear support question for him.
