OK. Sorry to take up so much of your time but
1. My base wireless router was setup for the internet using the static IP settings I described. I think what you are saying is that the extender acting up has nothing to do with this.
2. Do you have any further tips for how to fix my extender problem? I have reserved 192.168.1.250 for my extender on my base wireless router but the extender continues to act up once a day or so. When it acts up, the base router still shows the extender connected with the above IP address. But I cannot connect to the extender. Rebooting the extender usually helps though some times I also have to reboot the base router (even though I am able to connect other devices to the base router just fine).
