Attempts to connect using WPA failed (even when extender and router are an inch apart, also tried joining the two devices with cable lan1-to-lan1). I tried manual setup using netgear genie (I have no network expertise) from my ipad. Initially I received message that mac address needed to be added to router’s ACL (access control list) see first attached screen shot. But when I checked the router’s settings, ACL is NOT enabled. I reset the WN2500RP and tried manual setup again from my ipad. Every attempt after the first, I encounter this problem: I see the extender with my network name, but cannot maintain the connection to mywifiext.net long enough to complete the install. When I get to “you are now one step away from completing the installation”, I cannot check the box “my wireless devices are connected to the Extender network” because my ipad and iphone drop me from the network. See 2nd & 3rd photos. verizon is no help. Two techs say they can’t help unless it’s a verizon extender and the 3rd rep insisted that the problem is a verizon outage in our area (despite the fact that I can connect to the network from every device via the g1100 router and my fios phone is working). the wn2500rp connected fine to the previous verizon router. But that router was terrible—in a 2200 sq foot house, I needed an extender for the next room. The g1100 is significantly better, with access issues in only one room where a brick wall that is part of an addition is the problem. the extender connected to the previous router provided a signal, but it still wasn’t great (buffering, dropped connections) but this router’s performance in that room can at least connect without an extender but I think it would be much better with an extender. Is there something I need to do that is not obvious to me to make the connection between the wn2500RP and the g1100? I saw another poster with problems connecting these devices in december 2017, but there were no replies. is there a way to find out if there is some hardware or software incompatibility between the wn2500rp extender and the verizon g1100? Or a list of extenders that are compatible with the g1100 router? I do not want a verizon extender unless that is the only solution. thanks in advance.2.8KViews0likes3CommentsWN2500RP- cell finds 2G & 5G bands fails to connect, after change to Fastlane Tech
Model WN2500RP extender and FIOS-G1100 dual band router. I used www.mywifiext.net to connect extender to 5Ghz band of router. That created extender networks FIOS-GARI5-5G_5GEXT and FIOS-GARI5-5G_2GEXT. I was able to connect Samsung 5S phone to the 2GEXT network. Then tried to change to Fastlane Technology on extender from the not Fastlane Tech, to use Fastlane Tech and chose 5G for the router-to-extender, and 2.4G for the devices-to-extender. While doing next step it displayed some type of error (forgot wording). Since then the cell wifi didn't find those _2GEXT or _5GEXT networks. I added them so the cell would try to connect, but the show "out of range". When I choose the _3GEXT anyhow it displays connecting..., then back to saved, secured and didn't connect. It only displayed "obtaining IP Address..." and got to a connected status once. When I disconnected that and tried to connect again, it failed. My thoughts are how do I set the extender back to factory defaults so I can get it's networks installed by the router all over again ? Thanks for any help. - Tim905Views0likes1CommentWN2500RP disabled WPS, not able to install anymore
Hi, Few years ago i installed my WN2500RP successfully. Since i didn't want to see the WIFI signal coming from WN2500RP i disabled WSP. Now i would like install WN2500RP somewhere else, however i encounter the problem that i'm not able to install anymore. WSP install doesn't work since WPS disabled. Manual install via www.mywifiext.net does also not work, since i'm not able to connect the wifi 2500rp (doesn't show up since WPS disabled) I already tried fabric reset, however WPS still does not show. Have i destroyed my wn2500RP by diabling WPS (and removing all connected devices), or does anyone know a solution for this problem? Kind regards, Roel1.9KViews0likes1CommentCannot connect on 5GHz
Hi, I have a DGND3700 router and just bought a WN2500RP to extend it. Both are are on latest firmware. I went through the normal set up using TPS and it connects and shows the 2.4GHz connection. If I repeat the same many times, the 5GHz never lights up. I know 5GHz is working on the 3700 because my iPad connects to the 5Ghz SSID and my iPhone connects to the 2.4GHz SSID. I tried using the web interface to connect to 5GHz but it also fails to connect. I am certain the password is correct. I'm using WPA2-PSK (AES). I am not using a wireless card access list. My 2.4GHz SSID is called JOHNA-2.4G My 5GHz SSID is called JOHNA-5G Even though the 5GHz light is not lit on the 2500 and the web interface shows it is not connected, I see the following Networks on my iPad JOHNA-2.4G JOHNA-2.4G_2GEXT JOHNA-5G JOHNA-5G_5GEXT If I connect to JOHNA-2.4G_2GEXT or JOHNA-5G_5GEXT and browse to the device I can see 5GHz is not connected. If I tell it to connect, it says it will take 2 minutes. I usually give up after 10 minutes. Both devices are in the same room so it is not a distance problem - I hope. In summary, no matter what I do, it will not connect at 5GHz. A bit disappointed by this. I thought 2 new products from Netgear that support TPS would work flawlessly. Any advice would be very welcome. John.96KViews0likes32CommentsCan't access Extender via www.mywifiext.net
I just installed a Netgear WN2500RP range extender, and it seems to be working correctly; however, I am unable to log in to www.mywifiext.net to access the device using a browser. Attempting to access this URL results in a timeout. Is there any other way to access the device? Does the device have to be connected via Ethernet to my (Actiontec PK5000) router?Solved404KViews0likes38CommentsWN2500RP Resets itself
As the title implies, my Wifi Extender randomly resets/restarts itself. So far it occurred three times, but not in a pattern. However when that happens I can't connect to the Extender (Using a Device) because of "Authentication Problem" This is becoming very annoying because it happens when you least expect it...3.7KViews0likes2CommentsConnecting extender to hotel login page
I have a guest network that requires a web page to open and a password to enter network to use (like hotel login), but I cannot get extender to allow me to enter a webpage and login so it says it cannot connect. Is there a way around this? I.e open a web page, enter the password to the network when prompted by main router. Then get extender to boost signal to other areas/devices? Thanks!47KViews0likes8CommentsWN2500RP Extender Unable to Connect
I have seen numerous discussions here about extenders not being able to connect to devices. The answers are somewhat vague and not necessarily definitive. I have just finished a paid for support call and have found the symptom and looking for a solution. The Problem: Windows 7 machine, trying to connect to the Netgear WN2500RP. Using the Genie support app I have gone through all the steps (multiple times) including factory resetting the extender, rebooting the computer (and my smartphone also trying to connect to the extender) even including adding the MAC addresses to the main router. Nothing works, the extender will not connect with any devices. The lights on the extender are all green as they should be. Here is what I paid to find out. The extender is sending out a strong signal to the devices, but it is sending to the wrong IP address. This is why nothing will connect. So the question to Netgear Experts is, how do I change the outgoing IP address on the Netgear Extender? If possible, please include some easy to understand step by step processes that anyone coming across this thread (and from my reading there are many) can do to change the out going signal to the correct matching IP address to allow the devices to communicate. Thank you very much for your assistance.4.2KViews0likes2CommentsWN2500RP - Pot forwarding?
I've been using a WNDR3700 with a few cameras. I use port forwarding to get to each camera remotely. I just added a WN2500RP extender. Can I connect cameras to extender? and do I need to re-establish port forwarding? I'm a bit confused conceptually. Thanks11KViews0likes5CommentsChanging Extender Password
I have no idea how this password became associated with the extender, but I definitely did not input a 50-character password. It's a pain to set up the internet with different devices because I have to take five minutes of putting the password in. Is there a simple way to change it? Thanks.10KViews0likes2Comments
