WN3000RP - so close but no cigar

I can't quite get this thing working, I get "can't connect to the internet".
Here's my setup:
Router WNDR3400

Router -> wireless -> PC
Router -> wireless -> WN3000RP -> wireless -> iPad

Via the PC I can look at the router and see the mac addy of the WN3000RP on it's connected to page.
Via the PC I can also access the WN3000RP and see the mac addy of the iPad on it's connected to page.

The iPad shows connected but can't get to the internet.
The iPad also won't connect to the WN3000RP via www.mywifiext.net.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

  • Can you access the extender through the router link. via 10.0.0.11?
  • no I can't. It seems like I can access the extender when the windows was identifying the network. Once it changes to "Unidentified Network", I can't access it at all.

    I am using Windows 7 (x86 and x64) on both laptops. WPA2-AES, router WNDR3700.
  • update... I tried resetting the extender. I am able to connect to the extender during the original process (ie. not setup to connect to my router yet).

    I can manually connect the extender to my router (without going to the smart wizard), and still get access to the extender. However, the IP of the extender doesn't seem to change (still 192.168.1.250 and Gateway/DNS 0.0.0.0) hence not getting the internet.

    Once I change the extender IP address to 10.0.0.11/255.255.255.0/10.0.0.1, it becomes "unidentified network" again.

    I tried changing the gateway/dns to 192.168.0.1 (my internet provider's router IP) and still doesn't work.

    I don't know what to do now.

    Please help

    192.x.x is not internet routable IP so that is LAN subnet for private.

    I am so confused of which IP to use. This is how my system is
    Rogers(provider) -> Cable -> Roger's Router (ie. gateway) -> LAN -> WNDR3700 -> Wireless -> Extender -> Wireless -> PC

    This is the detail of all the IP I could find.
    ----------------------
    From Roger's Router:
    INTERNET
    WAN IP: 99.237.40.106
    WAN Subnet Mask: 255.255.254.0
    WAN Gateway IP: 99.237.40.1

    GATEWAY
    DHCP Gateway IP Address: 192.168.0.1
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    DNS Proxy IP Address: 192.168.0.1
    -----------------------
    WNDR3700:
    Internet Port
    IP Address 192.168.0.10
    Connection DHCP
    IP Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
    Domain Name Server 192.168.0.1

    LAN Port
    IP Address 10.0.0.1

    How should I set the IP of the extender so that it works?

    Thanks

    running DOUBLE NAT is the problem

    Yay!!! I got it to work!!! Thank you so much!!!
    I didn't know about the Double NAT issue at all.

    I managed to change Rogers' router to a normal gateway (no LAN function)
    and now the extender works perfect!!!!

    Thank you soo much
