WNDAP350 2.4GHz drops out every few seconds
As the subject states, we've just bought a number of WNDAP350 access points. The wireless functions perfectly on the 5GHz band, but the 2.4GHz continually drops out. I'm trying to borrow a laptop with a different chipset to check, but so far the Intel 5300 Wifi and iPhone 3GS both fail to keep a connection.
Using Vistumbler on the laptop shows a complete drop to zero-signal roughly every 2-3 seconds.
I've tried with all encryption disabled too, which has made no difference.
Has anyone else had similar issues?

- KWheelerAZAspirantStephen,
Try turning off all the WMM settings under Advanced on the 802.11b/g/n network. See what affect that has.
KW - SlabAspirantAlthough I am not the original poster, I am experiencing a similar issue with an Intel card (4965AGN) and the WNDAP350. Among many other tests, I disabled WMM to see if that would help. That just resulted in another problem ...on both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz radios, the max connection rate at 802.11n when WMM is disabled is only 54 mbps.
I have the latest Intel drivers. Thx... - djscalAspirantWow, I'm floored that this product seems to have very similar problems to the piece of trash WNDAP330. I can't believe that they didn't fix the drop outs with this next gen product. I also cannot believe that a firmware fix has not yet been released for these pieces of crap that would fix it.
Jim, don't say contact Netgear support! They are worthless!
When calling Netgear they claim to have no idea what you are talking about and the people answering the phone seem to have no abiliity to talk to the engineering department for Netgear to actually resolve the dropouts via firmware update. I believe that their help desk is outsourced to a different company and it would take an act of god for the two companies to actually communicate about bugs.
Simply amazing! - marmaramaAspirantThe trick is to set 'WMM Powersave' to Disabled, but leave 'Enable Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM)' set to Enabled. This combination stops the dropouts from happening, but leaves the full 300Mbps connection enabled.

Hmmm, I disagree on that. I have problems with the WNAP210 and WNDAP350, yes, but after an extensive e-mail (and phone) contact with Support (they asked the right questions), they now have created a new Firmware (for WNAP210) which solves one of my problems. Perfect support!

I've posted the new firmware in that topic. - jumbo_cardsAspirantI had this problem -- I didn't need to fiddle around with internal settings. All I did was to install 2 external antenna onto the router.
Once I've done that, there is a setting in the router that says "use external antenna" for 2.4Ghz. - PerryCarlton41Aspirant

I tried this solution and it worked fine on our 4our WNDap350 Access Points.
Thanks MarMaRaMa! Carl, in Portland Oregon - dfnetAspirantthere is a new firmware version 2.0.9 that fixes this issue. Netgear >Support>enter your model number and you will see latest firmware shown at the top of the page
- neog8rAspirantWNDAP350 UNRELIABLE as of firmware version 2.0.27 (August, 31 2011).
We are having ongoing problems with the WNDAP350. The 5GHz band goes deaf at random intervals and does not recover. All devices on the network must be manually reconnected to the WNDAP350 to continue functioning. When the AP goes deaf, not even the WNDAP350 can be accessed via wireless. Using hard-wire to connect while deaf enables access to the monitoring features which show nothing suspicious. We have downgraded to older Netgear AP's and verified everything with the network functions correctly. No other competing signals from other AP's.
Netgear Support has had us try three versions of the firmware (including a beta), latest being firmware being 2.0.27 and the reliability problems persist and had us try different channel settings. No resolution found yet as of August 31, 2011.
Any input on this issue would be appreciated.

I say you need to go up L3 to find out more issues with the unit.. :)
