WNR2000 cannot connect to WNDR3300!
I am pretty sure I am on the right thread. Sorry, I am new to forums.
Well, I am attempting to setup a WNDR3300 and WNR2000v2 repeater combo with the WNR2000 as the repeater. On the base station (WNDR3300), I set up the ssid, channel (11), speed, and to WEP (including password). I also, in the Wireless repeater area, set it as the base station with the repeater (WNR2000) MAC inputed. On the WNR2000, I set it up the same way as the base station (ssid, channel, speed, and WEP (including password)). On the wireless repeater area, I selected the radio button for wireless repeater, put in the IP address (192.168.1.39), and the MAC for the base station. When I hit apply, it says something like "Updating settings" and a bar displaying progress. When it is about to finish (bar is almost full), it stops moving and eventually gives me a "connetion taking too long" error. Then I have to factory reset the WNR2000 to access the settings again (www.routerlogin.com) What's the deal? Should I go with DD-WRT for the WNR2000? Did I miss something (I went step by step in the manual)? Also, WHEN I get this to work, would I be able to use the ethernet port on the repeater? Thanks everyone for your time and effort!
As a side note, if it matters, I live in a 1300sq/ft house with the base station in the hallway and the repeater in the living room (about a 20-30 ft distance and a wall corner as obstruction).

54Mbps/WEP or no security so you are in right setup already(about a 20-30 ft distance and a wall corner as obstruction).
Make sure you are not placing the 2nd unit where wifi device originally get low signal. You need to overlap the signal to work so you will need to place 2nd unit closer to the main router so that I can't repeat the signal to cover the section that you has low signal - shinobi1173NoviceThanks for the prompt reply. Ive read so many of your posts in the past and you have fixed many of my problems. Haha youre nearly a hero to me.
Well, unfortunately where I currently have the wnr2000 is the closest I can get it (I want to hook it up via Ethernet cable to my xbox and.dvd player). I am pretty sure the signals overlap since its only 20ft or so from the base. Any other ideas? I read somewhere that I should disable dhcp. Is.that true? - jmizoguchiVirtuosoYou can not have DHCP on 2nd unit..
repeating is to repeat wireless.
I would look extender if you like to hook up wired device . ex. wn2500rp - shinobi1173NoviceGotcha. Ill take a look and if I have more problems, ill let u know! Thanks!
- jmizoguchiVirtuosoYour are welcome..
btw, extender will also let you use WPA2 on main wireless router so that will keep you wireless secure as well
